Few years ago it was very easy to get Adsense Approval just uploading a unique video on YouTube but now it's very tough because of the change in policy. In April 2017, YouTube said, the YouTube channel that will complete 10000 (10k) views, will get Adsense Approval. To protect creator's revenue across the YouTube ecosystem and to tackle the day to day abuse by small channels.
On January 17, 2018 YouTube changed its policy once again and said only that YouTube channel can enable monetization that will complete 4000 (4k) hours watch time and 1000 (1k) subscribers. The existing YouTube channels are also infected by this policy update those are approved but don't have 4k watch time and 1k subscribers won't be showing any Adsense Ad until they complete the rules. Their approved adsense account will be disabled after 20th February 2018 if they don't complete the number of watch time and subscribers.
Don't think YouTube channel as your primary income, It's just a good platform for the content creator like to showcase their work to the world. Obviously you earn, but that is the second good thing not primary. Keep your major attention towards making quality videos to grow your channel publicity.
