Introduction - Rakhi
India is the land of festivals that are celebrated together for the maintenance of relationship. Basically this festival is celebrated in Hindu Community. Raksha Bandhan is one of them that is all about affection, fraternity and sublime sentiments. Raksha Bandhan means a 'bond of protection'. This is an occasion to flourish love, care, affection and feeling of brotherhood.
What happens on this day
Today, sisters prepares the Puja Thali with diya, chawal, roli, rakhi and sweets. The ceremony starts with a prayer in front of the God, then the sisters tie Rakhi to her brothers on the wrist of their brothers amid chanting of mantras, put roli and rice on forehead and pray for their happiness & well-being. She grant him with gifts and blessings. Brothers acknowledge the love with a promise to stand by his sister through all the situations and wish her a good life and commits to take care of her. He also gifts her in return. The gift are symbol of physical acceptance of Love and affection.
